Summertime in New York. Pingu and Jiaqi, a young Chinese couple, are striving to build a new life after finishing their studies. When Jiaqi accepts a job offer in China, a sudden pandemic travel ban strands her in Los Angeles, leaving the couple suspended between two cities, two time zones, and growing uncertainty about whether to return or stay. An encounter with two fellow expats pushes their relationship into uncharted territory. Made on a small budget, with Kunao Yan writing, directing, editing and starring, and the cast drawn largely from the crew, this delicate debut traces the fragility of human connection with quiet precision – a melancholic portrait of love and identity, and a tender reflection on the contemporary experience of migration for a young Chinese generation caught between two worlds.
